Qualified Pacific Union College students may now be guaranteed admission to Andrews University鈥檚 (AU) Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program through the recently signed Guaranteed Admission Agreement.Effective October 1, this agreement ensures at least two PUC pre-physical therapy students will be accepted into AU鈥檚 DPT program annually. To support the partnership with AU, PUC has developed a robust curriculum meeting the admission requirements to the DPT program, including specific biology, chemistry, physics, statistics, and psychology classes. 鈥淭he agreement gives PUC students a competitive advantage in that they have clear expectations and receive personal guidance and help to meet those expectations,鈥� says Aimee Wyrick, dean of the School of Sciences. Discussions surrounding the agreement began in 2023.鈥淎s we talked more and I learned about the various allied health programs, it became clear that partnering with their School of Allied Health would be a fabulous collaboration for both institutions,鈥� she explains. 鈥淧re-PT students at PUC with an interest in the Andrews DPT program will be advised by a PUC faculty and connected with the Andrews advising team.鈥滻nterested PUC students must meet specific criteria, including attending prerequisite classes, having a minimum prerequisite GPA of 3.6, and participating in a pre-admission interview with AU....

The award recognized his work as a devoted pediatrician with more than 30 years of service at the hospital, impacting thousands of lives in the Inland Empire and far beyond. This isn鈥檛 the first time Chinnock has been recognized for his incredible care. He also received the Outstanding Clinician Award from LLUCH in 2019 and is a Healing Hands Honoree. Chinnock, who grew up in the Loma Linda and Redlands area, says he followed his then-girlfriend, now wife of 47 years鈥擱uthie (Wagner) Chinnock, 鈥�78鈥攖o PUC. From October 17 to 19, five students from the communication department at Pacific Union College attended the 2024 Society of Adventist Communicators Conference (SAC) near Chicago, Illinois. This trip was made possible by the support of generous donors.鈥淎ttending SAC as a professional myself was a great experience, and I saw some value in it, but nothing compares to bringing students and watching them network, connecting with students from other schools and industry professionals,鈥� comments Tara Hargrove, professor of communication and sponsor of the trip. 鈥淚 loved hearing them talk about how they 鈥榓lready learned about that in class;鈥� it was an eye-opening experience for them to see the real-world applications in the communication fields.鈥� The conference included development opportunities for seasoned and new professionals and specific activities for college students studying communication. One day, Pacific Union College alum Jordan Wareham (2004) saw a raffle advertisement on Facebook for a 1968 Beechcraft Musketeer from the American Flight Museum in Topeka, Kansas. Thinking it was a scam, Wareham put his name in the raffle for fun and purchased six tickets, with proceeds going to the museum's aviation education.Time passed without word on the raffle until April, when Wareham was at Bowling Green State University in Ohio for his doctoral residency. He saw the museum would announce the raffle winner and watched the live drawing. When the announcer said his name鈥擶areham almost fell out of his chair.With 90 days to decide if he wanted the plane, Wareham and his wife determined this was not the time to operate a plane privately. They deeply felt this prize had been gifted to them for a greater purpose and knew they wanted to do something special.Wareham reached out to PUC Flight Director Nathan Tasker, who, at the time, was preparing to return to PUC. The aviation program needed a second primary training aircraft, and through a generous agreement, the Musketeer (N6066N) would be leased to PUC essentially for free. On September 23, Pacific Union College rang in the school year, welcoming back returning students. For new students, it was the start of an uncharted adventure they had long anticipated. PUC happily welcomed freshman students on campus for Fusion on Wednesday, September 18. Student Involvement Director Sharleen Bouit organized new student orientation with the help of Campus Chaplain Arturo Lopez, Director of Residential Life Gena Philpott, Vice President for Enrollment, Marketing & Communication Gene Edelbach, student life and enrollment staff, and faculty accomplishing all elements of the event. Bouit and her team arranged many activities for new students to enjoy and socialize, such as bowling, a resource hunt, a Fusion raffle, and making friendship bracelets. The friendship bracelets were a big hit as students had fun during the activity and joined groups, getting to know each other and bonding over a simple activity.
